Sun, 04/26/2015A pedestrian died after he was hit by a car in Newberg Township Sunday morning at around 1:20 a.m. on M-40 north of Withers Street. Duke Gowens, 25, of Cassopolis, Michigan, was in the northbound lane of M-40 when a vehicle hit him. Gowens was pronounced deceased at the crash site.

Wed, 04/08/2015A witness told Cass County Sheriff's deputies that he saw Wayne Roscoe Owen drive his pickup off Cassopolis Road near Starbrick Street into a farm field on the east side of the road, return to the roadway, cross the oncoming lane, and finally strike a large tree around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Thu, 02/19/2015It was about 12:12am when Szymanski was driving east on U.S. 12 and he fell asleep, veered into the oncoming lane, and struck a westbound MDOT snow plow. Szymanski was taken to a hospital, though the extent of his injuries are unknown, and the snow plow driver Todd Payne, 50, was not injured.

Sun, 02/15/2015Cass County resident Paul Williamson, 53, was snow plowing at a house on Fosdick Street in Wayne Township when he reached out of his skid-steer and his foot hit the hydraulic pedal to lift the front bucket, pinning him between the arm and the vehicle.

Thu, 02/12/2015A young man was killed being hit by a car in Cass County, Michigan. Joshua Yahne, 22, of Dowagiac, was walking on M-51 around 11:30 p.m. Thursday when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Jamika Morgan, 21, of Elkhart, Indiana. Yahne was pronounced deceased at the crash site.

Mon, 01/19/2015One elderly man was injured Monday afternoon near Dowagiac when he drove into the path of an oncoming car at 1:13 p.m. Leroy Whelan, 87, of Dowagiac, was turning off Indian Lake Road on to Silver Street when he struck the vehicle driven by 54-year-old Boyd Saylor, also from Dowagiac.

Slabaugh had to be extrivated from her vehicle.
