Amish family members injured in Clare County buggy-car collision

About 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, Clare County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a crash site in the area of Bailey Lake and Cedar roads in Arthur Township. They arrived to find that a 1997 Lincoln, driven by a 22-year-old Gladwin man, had been heading north when it rear-ended the buggy containing two 34-year-old adults and seven children, according to sheriff's deputies.

Authorities: At least 6 hurt in car-buggy crash; alcohol was a factor

The Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant reports that a man and woman, both 34, and three children were taken to a Saginaw hospital for treatment. The hospitalized children are 8 months old, 5 years old and 10 years old. Clare County Undersheriff Dwayne Miedzianowski says a 4-year-old girl also was treated for injuries.

Five People Injured, One Horse Killed As Car Rear Ends Amish Buggy

The Amish buggy was hit around 7:30 Sunday night on Bailey Lake Road near Cedar Street in Clare County's Arthur Township.

A car driven by a 22-year-old man from Gladwin rear-ended a horse-drawn buggy containing two adults and seven children. Five people inside the buggy were transported to a local hospital for their injuries. These included both 34-year-old adults, and 3 children ages 10, 5, and 8 months. The horse was also severely injured and had to be euthanized. Foggy weather conditions and alcohol were considered main factors in this accident.
