The Munising Township Fire Department and the Michigan State Police assisted along with the Sheriff’s Office in providing a secure landing zone for the helicopter.
Snowmobile accident in Alger County
Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the crash, but the accident remains under investigation.
A female snomobiler was seriously injured in a Friday morning accident in Alger County, Michigan. The accident occured shortly before 11:00 AM, when the Alger County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the accident. The deputies report that Adine Marie Long of Tustin, in Michigan's lower peninsula, was riding north on Trail 8 about three miles north of Shingleton when she failed to negotiate a curve. Shethen rode off the trail and struck a tree, causing her to be ejected from the snowmobile. Alger County Rescue 21 and Alger County EMS transported the woman from the accident site to the trailhead. She was thensent by ambulance to Shingleton, where Valley Med Flight picked her up and flew her to U.P. Health System Marquette. The accident is still being investigated and we will provide more details as they are released.
