Sheriff's deputies were called at 12:21 a.m. Sept. 7 to Norwood Road about a mile west of U.S. 31. They found a 1998 Dodge pickup truck had left the road on a left hand curve and struck a tree, impacting the driver's side.

The Charlevoix County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at scene by the Antrim County Sheriff’s Office, Charlevoix Ambulance, the Charlevoix Township Fire Department, and the Banks Township Fire Department. Authorities said although speed is believed to be a factor in the the crash remains under investigation.
