George County deputy killed while on duty

Street has been a law enforcement officer for about four years. He worked full time with the Lucedale Police Department and part time with the George County Sheriff's Office.

George Co. deputy dies in traffic accident

Sheriff Dean Howell says 24-year-old John Robert Street was killed just before 2 a.m. Tuesday while responding to an accident on Mississippi Highway 57.

Funeral arrangements set for George County Deputy killed in car accident

Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. for family and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. for all others at the First Baptist Church of Gulfport. Additional visitation will be Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. with the service to follow. Burial will be at the Floral Hills Cemetery.

Public visitation for Deputy John Robert Street, 24, is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Gulfport on Highway 605.
Around 2am, George County Deputy John Street, 24, was responding to an crash on Highway 57 North when his patrol car exited the road and struck a tree.  It is not yet known what might have caused the car to leave the road. Deputy Street has a wife and two children, ages four and four-months. Arrangements for Deputy Street will be announced soon. Check back for more information as it becomes available.
