Spencer Havard, 16, Sierra Jean Dixon, 7, and Terra Dixon, 9, killed, and alleged hit-and-run driver Jesse Edward Dickerson, 23, arrested after crash on Highway 198 near Lucedale, Mississippi
Troopers said a green 2003 Kia Optima was heading east on Highway 198, east of Depot Road, shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, went off the road, and crashed into a sign.
Troopers said the driver then left the vehicle and ran into the woods.
After the wreck, officials say Dickerson left the vehicle, running into some nearby woods. Officers, as well as family members of the driver, worked together to locate him.
The 23-year-old is charged with four felony counts of leaving the scene of an accident causing injury or death. Investigators said he was behind the wheel when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a sign in Lucedale.
Jesse Edward Dickerson, 24, was indicted on three counts of second-degree murder for allegedly causing the March 25, 2017, crash that killed three siblings and seriously injured a Lucedale police officer.
