Master Sergeant Criss Turnipseed says a log truck was heading south on Highway 45 Alternate in the left lane when a car in the right lane tried to turn left to head toward the median.

Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant has identified the person killed in the Thursday afternoon crash on Highway 45 Alternate. Jervarious Antwane Jackson, 24, of Crawford, was a passenger in the Nissan Maxima that was struck by a log truck before 1:30 p.m.
