One woman is dead after evening storms caused a tree to fall on passing vehicles.

Chief Chris Robertson reports Maria Melendez, 62, of New Albany was a passenger in a vehicle headed east on Highway 30 east that was struck by a tree that fell due to a storm.
Evening storms in New Albany caused a tree to fall onto two cars as they passed each other near Highway 30. A female passenger in one of the cars died at the scene. Other passengers in both vehicles sustained injuries. No other details were released at this time; check back for updates.
