"They were on the way home. They got hit from behind and he got thrown out." Linda Cook clings to her grandson's portrait while standing outside the steps of Jackson Police headquarters. Authorities say 21-year-old Joshua Hardin was killed by a suspected drunk driver early Sunday morning at the intersection of Highway 18 and TV Road in Jackson.

Family members tell us Joshua and three other friends were headed back from a Hal and Mal's concert.

"He was just starting his life. It was a waste of time. It's a waste of that lady's life too because of a bad decision and all the people that are going to have to suffer," says Susie Gilbert, Joshua's aunt.

The suspect is 33-year-old Tiffini Martin. She made her initial appearance in the Jackson Municipal Court this morning.

Cook brought the photo of Joshua to court but says she wasn't allowed to show it. "I wanted her to see what she took from us. We wanted her to see the person, not just a name. We just wanted to see what she did," says Cook.

Police say Martin was driving a Ford F-150 and hit the Toyota Four-Runner throwing Joshua and his 22-year-old friend from the vehicle. "He's an exchange student from Russia. He's in intensive care. His family can't get here because they have to get a visa," says Cook.

Joshua's family says this accident isn't affecting them alone but the Martin family as well.

"We're all going to miss him. It's also that young lady and her family and also that's going to have to suffer. It's just tons of people that are involved here because of one choice of drinking and driving," says Gilbert.

Bond for Martin is set for 175 thousand dollars and is sentenced to house arrest.
