Austin Leroux, 24, Jacob Huskey, 25, Mark McDaniel, 58, and James Gibbs, 62, were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 44 in St. Louis County, Missouri
A tractor trailer, driven by a 62-year-old man from Flint, Michigan, rear-ended one of the state troopers’ vehicles, then plowed into the Glendale police car and the abandoned vehicle.
VEHICLES 1, 2, AND 3 ALL HAD EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT ACTIVATED DUE TO VEHICLE 5 BEING ABANDONED BLOCKING LANES 2 AND 3. VEHICLE 4 FAILED TO YIELD TO VEHICLES 1, 2, AND 3 EMERGENCY LIGHTS. VEHICLE 4 STRADDLED LANES 2 AND 3 AND STRUCK THE REAR OF VEHICLE 1 AND VEHICLE 2 SIMULTANEOUSLY, THEN CONTINUED THROUGH AND STRUCK VEHICLE 3 AND VEHICLE 5
James Gibbs, 62, of Flint, Michigan, is behind bars on two counts of DWI (causing injury to a law enforcement officer) and failure to proceed with caution with emergency lights displayed. St. Louis County prosecutors officially filed charges on Monday in the crash.
