2 people dead in collision near Fremont, authorities say

Authorities say two people were killed in a Dodge County collision between a sport utility vehicle and a semitrailer that was hauling a combine. Authorities say the SUV crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the big rig. He says he and two other men who'd stopped helped the semitrailer driver escape from flames that erupted after the crash. Paul Dirkschneider, of Schuyler, said that he and his wife stopped their vehicle when they reached the accident scene. The names of the driver and the two people who died in the SUV have not been released.
