Pedestrian killed in east Valley crash

Las Vegas Metro police reported a pedestrian was killed in a crash on the east side of the Valley Thursday night. The collision occurred about 7:56 p.m. near the intersection of East Lake Mead Boulevard and Sloan Lane. Police said the driver involved remained at the crash scene. Police closed Lake Mead in both directions at Sloan to investigate.  

Coroner IDs pedestrian struck, killed Thursday night

A 71-year-old woman who was struck and killed by a car Thursday night has been identified by the Clark County coroner's office. Maria Herrera of Las Vegas was struck just before 8 p.m. while crossing Lake Mead Boulevard, east of Linn Lane, outside of a marked crosswalk, according to Las Vegas police. A 2006 Hyundai Sonata was traveling east on Lake Mead and hit Herrera in the eastbound lanes, police said.
