POLICE: Pickup truck runs red light causes semi crash into tavern at Nellis and Washington

The accident occurred just before 10:45 a.m., according to Metro Officer Laura Meltzer. Police say the driver of the red pickup crashed into a car and a semi just before running a red light on Nellis.

A 60-year-old man driving the Escort died in the wreck. His name wasn't immediately made public.

Firefighters extricated a 19-year-old passenger, who was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries.

Police say the pickup driver, 39-year-old Moroni Calvo of Las Vegas, was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Quirino Ortega, 60, of Las Vegas, died of multiple blunt force injuries as a result of an accident, according to Clark County Coroner's Office.
