Nevada Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a fatal crash Monday evening on the northern 215 Beltway. North Las Vegas police were called in to assist with traffic. As NHP investigates, all beltway lanes between Aliante Parkway and North Fifth Street — a 3-mile stretch — are shut down. Three cars were involved in the crash, NHP trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said. Both NHP troopers and North Las Vegas fire crews responded to the crash at 5:41 p.m., which happened in the westbound lanes of the beltway, just east of the Aliante Parkway exit.

Woman killed in head-on collision on Beltway identified

One of two people killed in a North Las Vegas three-car wreck Monday has been identified by the Clark County coroner. Maria Dennis, 48, of Las Vegas was driving a Buick on the northern 215 Beltway when her vehicle and a Lexus crashed into each other head-on, Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said. Both NHP troopers and North Las Vegas fire crews responded to the 5:41 p.m. crash, which happened in the westbound lanes of the Beltway, just east of the Aliante Parkway exit. It was not immediately clear which car crossed over the center line, causing the head-on collision. A third car, a Chrysler, not originally involved in the crash, slammed into the wreckage.

Man and woman killed in Beltway collision identified

Maria Dennis, 48, of Las Vegas was driving a Buick on the northern 215 Beltway when her vehicle and a Lexus crashed into each other head-on, Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said. The Lexus overturned on impact, killing its driver, Tracy Michael Simpson, 38, of Las Vegas, according to the coroner.
