Police detective Chad Parque, 32, killed and woman injured in wrong-way collision on Martin Luther King Boulevard in North Las Vegas, Nevada
The detective, whose name has not yet been released, was in critical condition after a head-on collision with a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Martin Luther King Boulevard about 2 p.m. Friday while he was on duty. He had to be cut out of his vehicle.
Parque also was remembered as a warm person and a good friend. Longtime friend Mike Miller described Parque as “one of those guys who everyone gravitated towards,” and someone who always put others before himself.
Police said the vehicle is believed to be a black, full-size pickup that may be a Chevrolet or GMC make.
The driver may have also wore a long-sleeve tan shirt.
At least 50 people — members of Parque’s family and colleagues — gathered Tuesday to celebrate his life at the North Las Vegas Justice Court, where the on-duty officer was hit Jan. 6, 2017, while exiting the court’s parking lot.
