Woman in critical condition after head-on crash in Sussex, State Police say

A silver 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer operated by Matthew Giamanco, 21, of Sussex was traveling south on Route 525 near mile post 10.6 around 9 p.m. when the vehicle crossed over into the northbound lane, State Police Sgt. Dan Fedge said. Giamanco's vehicle crashed head-on into a tan 2000 Saturn driven by Stefanida Sloan, Fedge said.

Man charged with DWI, criminal assault in Sussex crash

Giamanco was later charged with driving while intoxicated and criminal assault. The criminal assault charge has been provided to the Sussex County Prosecutor's Office, he said.
Sloan, and Giamanco, and Zarpentine were airlifted to Morristown Medical center. Carroll and Thompson were also taken to Morristown Medical Center, Fedge said. Conditions for the passengers are not currently available.
