Two people killed in crash; Highway 550 closed
Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office says a fatal car crash has shut down Highway 550 north of Rio Rancho near the National Guard Armory.
SCSO Deputy Keith Elder said two people were killed in the crash near mile marker 10. He said a Ford pickup truck traveling north crossed in front of a southbound Toyota truck and the vehicles collided head-on.
Water on US 550 caused driver in double fatal crash to lose control, police say
A fiery crash that left two people dead on U.S. 550 Thursday afternoon started when the driver of a red Toyota Tacoma drove through water on the road and lost control, swerving into oncoming traffic in the southbound lane, according to a spokesman for the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office.
