Ronald Baron and family lose 5 year old daughter in car accident.
NY police release name of Mass. family in crash
State police have released the names of the western Massachusetts couple whose 5-year-old daughter was killed when their minivan rear-ended a snow plow on an upstate New York road.
Troopers say Friday that the van was being driven by 56-year-old Ronald Baron of South Egremont, Mass. The van slammed into the back of a Town of Hillsdale plow truck Wednesday night on Route 23 in Columbia County, on the Massachusetts border.
Police say Baron’s 5-year-old daughter, who was in a car seat in the van’s second row, was killed. His 14-year-old daughter suffered serious spinal cord injuries and remains hospitalized at Albany Medical Center. Their names haven’t been released.
Baron and his 49-year-old wife, Irit Baniel, were treated for less serious injuries.
Troopers are still investigating what caused the crash.
