Up to seven people where on the boat when it crashed, witnesses said. Several were uncooperative with investigating officers, police said.
A boat collided with a jetty near the entrance of the Patchogue River, injuring a passenger. The owner of the boat fled after the Sunday evening collision. The 23-foot Sea Ray sustained serious damage in the accident, and is currently stuck on the rocky shoreline. One of the passengers, Danielle Virgilio, 29, was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
