30-year-old man killed after he is struck by a van while trying to cross Utica Avenue in Brooklyn, New York

A 30-year-old Brooklyn man was fatally struck by a van early Friday, cops said. The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was crossing Utica Ave. midblock near Foster Ave. in East Flatbush when he was hit by the southbound white van about 5:45 a.m. He was rushed to Kings County Hospital but could not be saved. The driver of the Royal Rose Transportation van remained on the scene and faced no immediate charges. He was taking passengers to a car auction in Manheim, Pa., when the accident occurred.
