A 53-year-old man was killed when he crashed his motorcycle into the back of a tractor-trailer in his hometown of Holtsville on Tuesday night.

Leonard Mastro died from his injuries at Stony Brook University Hospital on Wednesday morning, police said.
Rhondle Carlton Day Jr. was driving a semi-truck west on Long Island Avenue at around 8:05 p.m. when he slowed and swung his trailer to the left in order to make a right turn. A motorcyclist that was behind Day, identified as 53-year-old Leonard Mastro, collided with the back of the trailer and was thrown from his bike as it was dragged beneath the trailer and burst into flames. Mastro was pronounced dead at the hospital the next day; Day was uninjured.
