The Livingston County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly accident in the Town of Sparta. It happened just before 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
The Sheriff stated that a 12-year-old boy was killed after he was struck by a car on Route 63, south of Parker Hill Road.
"He was outside doing what he should be doing on a nice spring day playing ball in the side yard and from what witnesses are telling us, his ball rolled out in the roadway and he went to cross and was struck by the vehicle," said the Sheriff
The sheriff's office said the driver of the car was not injured, and they don't believe alcohol or a cell phone played a factor. The Sheriff said Route 63 is a 55 mph zone, and the driver did not see the boy in time to stop.
