New Hartford man critically injured in crash after car catches fire
At 4:36 a.m. Friday, officers returning to the patrol facility on Erie Boulevard noticed fire and smoke in the parking lot at 2211 Erie Blvd E. A 911 call was placed, and the officers discovered it was a vehicle on fire.
Sergeants tried to get the driver’s door open several times before they were successful. The driver, Vinny Maugeri, a 2013 New Hartford graduate, was able to get out of the vehicle and get medical attention.
He was taken to Upstate University Hospital where he is listed in critical condition
