State police say Carine Rabay was travelling with family members on Interstate 81 at about 4 p.m. when their S-U-V went off the road. The vehicle hit a guiderail and overturned near a steep embankment.

State police say one person from Canada is dead and four others are injured after their sport utility vehicle crashed and overturned on Interstate 81 in northern New York. Troopers tell local media that the SUV was headed north around 4 p.m. Sunday when it crashed, rolled over and came to rest in the median between exits 48 and 49 in the town of Pamelia, outside Watertown, 65 miles north of Syracuse. Officials say the crash killed one person and left four others injured, including two who were flown by helicopters to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. The accident shut down I-81 in both directions for about six hours. Troopers haven't released any names or other details Monday morning.
