2 people critical after head-on crash on U.S. 17 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina; alcohol allegedly a factor

2 critically hurt in Elizabeth City head-on crash

Investigators determined the driver of a Honda Civic crossed the center line on US 17 at Anderson Street just after 7 p.m. and struck a Ford Crown Victoria approaching in the opposite direction. Then, a Dodge truck crashed into those vehicles. The truck had minimal damage, but the other vehicles were totaled, according to the Elizabeth City Police Department.

A crash involving three vehicles sent three people to the hospital, leaving two of people involved in critical condition. Randy Jones, the driver of the Ford Crown Victoria, was treated at Albemarle Hospital and later released. When officers arrived to the scene, they found a 2004 Honda Civic crossed the center line of the street and hit a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria head on. The Ford Crown Victoria and Honda Civic were considered “total losses.”
