Woman pleads guilty to charges from fatal Raleigh crash

Local media outlets report 24-year-old Keira Jo Sprouse pleaded guilty in Wake County Superior Court on Wednesday to second-degree murder, felonious hit-and-run and driving while impaired. A judge sentenced Sprouse to a maximum of 15 years in prison.

 

According to a police report, Kiera Jo Sprouse of Raleigh had a blood alcohol content of 0.13 and was traveling at an estimated 115 mph on I-440 near Glenwood Avenue when her car hit a motorcycle drivern by Thomas John Anstey of Cary. Cary was killed in the 12:40 a.m. crash, and Sprouse fled the scene. Sprouse was found at her home, where police arrested her on charges including driving while impaired and death by motor vehicle, hit-and-run causing death, failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision, driving without a license, driving without insurance, and driving a vehicle with expired registration.
