I-71 south closed at I-90 east split due to second multi-car accident

The accident caused multiple injuries, Cleveland police Sgt. CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Hours after a 12-car accident sent four people to the hospital with serious injuries, a second 8-car pile-up has temporarily shut down Interstate 71 southbound at the Interstate 90 split. Officials with Cleveland EMS were not immediately available to provide details on the extent of the injuries. The accident was reported to ODOT at about 7:45 p.m. This post will be updated when more information becomes available.

Serious injuries reported in 12-vehicle crash on I-90 east

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A 12-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 eastbound Wednesday evening sent four people to the hospital with serious injuries. The crash occurred about 5:30 p.m. on the highway between West 44th and West 25th streets, Cleveland police Sgt. The four injured people were transported to MetroHealth in conditions varying from serious to critical, Cleveland EMS confirmed. The right two lanes on the highway remain closed as police and fire crews clear the crash scene. Drivers can expect delays of up to five minutes.
