One dead, five injured in five-car crash on I-71 in Medina County

MONTVILLE TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- One person died in a five-car crash that closed part of Interstate 71 northbound Sunday in Medina County. Five others were injured in the crash happened at 3:30 a.m. just south of Ohio 18, the State Highway Patrol said. The crash closed Interstate 71 northbound for several hours. The Highway Patrol said it would release more information about the crash later Sunday. Officials have not released the identity of the person who died in the crash.

Officials identify driver who died in five-car crash on I-71 in Medina County

MONTVILLE TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Officials have identified a Pennsylvania man who died Sunday in a five-car crash on Interstate 71 northbound in Medina County. The Ohio Department of Transportation, the Medina County Sheriff's Office and police from Montville Township and Medina Township were also at the scene. Montville Township firefighters and paramedics, Seville-Guilford firefighters and paramedics and Medina paramedics assisted at the scene. The crash is still being investigated and at least one driver could face criminal charges, the Highway Patrol said. Sexton was not wearing his seatbelt at the time, the Highway Patrol said.
