Man killed in overnight crash

A Mercedes Convertible was traveling south on State Route 57 when the driver lost control.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly single-vehicle crash in Medina County. The accident occured around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday on State Route 557 Southbound, near Erhart Road. A Mercedes Convertible was driving south on State Route 57 when the driver lost control. The vehicle veered off the right side of the road, hit a utility pole, and rolled over multiple times. The car finally came to a halt upside down in the middle of the roadway. York Township man Frederick W. Beering Jr., 48, died at the scene. Beering was the only one in the car at the time of the crash. Beering was wearing a seatbelt during the accident. The crash is still under investigation, and it is unknown whether alcohol or drugs were a factor.
