Wrong Way Driver Causes Fatal Crash In Madison County

Investigators say that the car may have been driving the wrong way all the way back from Interstate 670 in the Grandview area. At least one other vehicle crashed while trying to avoid the wrong-way driver.

Investigators say Skoog was driving home from a Grandview Heights bar wound up in the wrong lanes and crashed into the van, which was carrying De-La-Furnta, 2 other adults and three children returning to Columbus from a church trip in Chicago. The crash killed 32-year-old Maribel Pablo Mijango. Investigators say she was in the backseat of the minivan.

A woman died Tuesday morning when a van was hit by a wrong-way driver shortly before 2 a.m. on Interstate 70 near Urbana-West Jefferson Road. Mattison Skoog, 24, was the driver of a Nissan Rogue westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-70 in Madison County. Skoog's vehicle crashed into a Plymouth Breeze minivan with three children and three adults. Maribel Pablo Mijangos, 32, was a passenger in the van. She died while being transported to Doctor's West Hospital. The van was being driven by Carlos De-La-Furnta, 31, who was transported to Grant Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Passenger Marta Pablo Mijango, 34, was transported to Mount Carmel West Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The three children, ages 2, 3, and 7, were all takento Nationwide Children's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Alcohol is thought to be a factor in the collision.
