Interstate 71 northbound has reopened on the city's north side after a fatal crash Saturday morning. According to Columbus police, officers responded to the area of I-71 near the Gemini Place exit on a report of a crash at about 6:14 a.m. Saturday. Police said 29-year-old Stephen Albenze, of Elyria, was operating a 2008 Ford Mustang, while 69-year-old David Eisnaugle, of Newark, was operating a semi, both traveling northbound on I-71, when the semi collided with the vehicle before traveling off the side of the roadway. After the collision, the semi struck a guardrail and a sound barrier. Eisnaugle was pronounced dead at the scene, and Albenze was treated for a minor injury at the scene. I-71 northbound was closed at Interstate 270 on the north side for about five hours, while emergency crews worked to clean up the scene and for police to investigate.
