Two people were hospitalized after crashing a vehicle into a piece of construction equipment on the east side of Columbus early Wednesday morning.
Two people were hospitalized after crashing a vehicle into a piece of construction equipment on the east side of Columbus early Wednesday morning. According to Columbus police, the driver of an SUV traveling south on North Cassady Avenue in the area of East 13th Street was attempting to go around a backhoe that was backing into the street when the SUV struck the back of the piece of equipment at about 2:57 a.m. Police say the backhoe was backing out of a construction project in the area when the crash occurred. The driver and a passenger in the SUV were injured in the crash. They were transported to Grant Medical Center with minor injuries. The backhoe operator was not injured in the crash. According to police, the driver of the SUV is at fault, but they continue to investigate.
