Suspected Drunk Driver Crashes Into Parked SUV, Home.
A suspected drunk driver struck a vehicle parked outside of a north Columbus home, pushing it into the home and waking family early Thursday morning.
According to police, the crash occurred at a home on Homecroft Drive at about 3 a.m.
An alleged drunk driver lost control while traveling northbound, driving through a lawn before crashing into an SUV that was parked outside of a home, pushing it into the home.
A family of three was asleep inside when the crash occurred.
No one was injured, but the impact knocked a couple of house plants from the wall.
Homeowner Roger Crabtree says it sounded like the driver was going fast just before the crash. After the impact the driver started yelling for help as his vehicle began to fill with smoke.
Crabtree’s son grabbed a baseball bat to break the windows of the vehicle open and free the driver.
The driver was transported to an area hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
It is unclear at this time what charges will be filed.
