Woman dies after collision with deputy's SUV on Oct. 5

The crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. Pierce was treated at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center. Spangler, of Briers Drive on the South Side, died at Grant. A citation against Spangler for failure to yield on a left turn was dismissed after she died, the release said. Her death was the 44th traffic fatality in Columbus this year.
Margaret Spangler, 93, of Briers Drive, died Monday after she collided with a marked police Ford Explorer in her Toyota Camry. The incident occured on October 5 around 2:00 p.m. when deputy Ronald Pierce, 50, was driving west on E. Livingston Avenue when Spangler took a left turn north onto Remington Road in front of him. The vehicles hit in the intersection. Both people were taken to Ohio Health Grant Medical Center, where Spangler died. The citation issued against Spangler for failing to yield on a left turn was removed when she died.
