S.R. 31 Reopens In Union County Following Fatal Crash
UNION COUNTY, Ohio -
A Kenton man was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Union County early Friday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies from the sheriff’s office responded to state Route 31, just north of state Route 347 at about 5:37 a.m. on a report of a three-vehicle crash.
According to the sheriff’s office, a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country van, operated by Oscar M. Hamby, 60, was following another vehicle, driven by Sara Jackson, 36, of Mt. Victory in the southbound lanes of S.R. 31. A third vehicle, driven by Kaleb Nebel, 19, of Mansfield, was traveling northbound on S.R. 31, just before the crash occurred.
It is unclear at this time what caused the three vehicles to crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
Hamby was pronounced dead at the scene by the Union County Coroner.
Jackson was transported to Memorial Hospital of Union County. She was later transferred to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center where she was listed in serious condition. A passenger in Jackson’s vehicle, Marcus Jackson, 29, was not injured in the crash.
Nebel was also transported to Memorial Hospital of Union County. He was also later transferred to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center where he was also listed in serious condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
The roadway was closed between state Route 347 and state Route 47 during the crash investigation. It was reopened by 9:42 a.m., according to the sheriff's office.
