Southeast River Road was closed at the intersection following the crash. One eastbound lane on Tualatin Valley Highway was expected to stay closed for several hours during the investigation.

Maloote Mathews, 85, of Hillsboro, is listed in fair condition Monday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
An elderly couple's car was hit by a train and pushed for 100ft in Hillsboro, OR. Maloote Mathews, 85, was driving north on Southeast River Road around 12:20 p.m., when the Toyota Corolla stopped on train tracks near the Tualatin Valley Highway intersection as the crossing arms came down. A westbound Portland & Western Railroad train was unable to come to a complete stop before hitting the passenger side of the car. Saramma Mathews, 82, was trapped in the car and had to be cut out. She was flown to Oregon Health and Science University in critical condition where she later died. Her husband was taken by ambulance with lesser but still serious injuries.
