Scappoose teen dies in crash on NW Cornelius Pass Rd.

A sheriff's office deputy was flagged down around 11 a.m. by a person walking on Cornelius Pass Road after the person noticed smoke and dust coming from the side of the road.

“She was a light in a dark world,” said Chance Rice, a youth pastor at Branches Church. “She was an amazing person.”

17-year-old killed in crash down embankment off Cornelius Pass Road

Firefighters said the vehicle went down a 75-foot embankment. A witness spotted smoke or dust coming from the ravine, stopped and discovered the car, according to investigators. A Rainier Fire Department battalion chief also stopped and made his way down to the car, a 2002 Ford Focus. 
A Scappoose teenager was killed when the Ford Focus she was driving went off an embankment in Northwest Portland on Wednesday morning on Northwest Cornelius Pass Road. Kerrigan Clark, 17, was found deceased in the car.
