Salem crash kills pedestrian, sends 2nd to hospital

SALEM, Ore. -- A vehicle struck two pedestrians and their dog at the intersection of Pine Street and Maple Street Thursday night. The female died of her injuries while being transported to Salem Hospital. Salem Police say Delbert Gossen, 70, was driving west on Pine Street and struck the individuals in an unmarked crosswalk at the intersection at about 9:15 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 6. The dog was transported to a local animal hospital, its condition is not known. The male suffered non life-threatening injuries but his condition is unknown.

Car hits Salem couple, wife dies

The pedestrians were identified as Caroline Storm, 62, of Salem, and her husband William Storm, 70. Caroline died of her injuries while being transported to Salem Hospital. William was in serious condition on Friday.
