A one-vehicle crash in Cumberland County left a Carlisle woman dead, and two others injured, late Saturday night.
A one-vehicle crash in Cumberland County left a Carlisle woman dead, and two others injured, late Saturday night. The Cumberland County Coroner said early Sunday that Jeannette Griffith, 34, who was riding in the back seat of a Dodge Ram that crashed into a tree, died. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Carlisle, the crash occurred around 11:38 p.m. Saturday on the first block of Lebo Road, Penn Township. The driver, Corey Chestnut, 38, of Carlisle, was driving at a high rate of speed when he lost control on a curve, left the road, and hit a tree, police said. Chestnut was able to leave the vehicle, and was transported to an area hospital to be treated for moderate injuries. The front seat passenger, Rebecca Shearer, 34, of Carlisle, had to be removed from the vehicle, and was flown from the scene, police said. Griffith did not survive the impact, police said. According to police, alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. The incident is under investigation.
