Two die as small plane crashes near University Park Airport
The pilot and passenger of the small Piper Navajo plane both were pronounced dead at the scene by Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers.
"A Piper PA 31 aircraft crashed one mile east of University Park Airport in State College, Pa. at about 8:30 a.m. today," the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.

One of the victims was confirmed by the company to be Dr. Robert Arffa, a corneal surgeon specializing in refractive Lasik vision correction.

"Gary was an experienced pilot and had flown this scheduled charter with Dr. Arffa on numerous occasions." Pizzuti said. "Aero National Inc. extends our deepest sympathies to the Orner and Arffa families at this very difficult time."
