Courtney Taylor, 23, killed in crash on Gum Tree Road on July 4.
The passenger of a pickup was killed Friday night after the vehicle tried to pass a car on rural Gum Tree Road, hit it, ran down an embankment and overturned into a farm field.
State police said Courtney Taylor, 23, of Lincoln University, was identified as the passenger.
An unidentified 16-year-old in the back seat was taken to A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington for treatment of injuries. His condition was not released.
State police said Taylor was the front-seat passenger of a pickup operated by Blake Norcini, 21, of Coatesville, said state police.
At 10:50 p.m., Norcini was eastbound on Gum Tree Road east of Gibble Road when he tried to pass a car operated by Steven Petras, 22, of Cochranville, said state police.
Norcini’s vehicle hit the driver’s side of Petras’ vehicle, and then went off the highway, throwing Taylor and the 16-year-old. State police said they have not determined if they were wearing seat belts.
Norcini and another passenger, Kyle Harris, 18, of West Grove, were not injured. They were wearing seat belts, said police.
Petras was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt, said state police.
The Cochranville Fire Company, Medic 94, and deputies from the Chester County Coroners Office assisted, said state police.
