Two pedestrians were struck and killed by a freight train in Valley Forge National Historical Park Saturday morning.

Police say two people were struck and killed by a freight train in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County. It happened around 7:30 a.m. on the Harrisburg line near the old Port Kennedy Station close to Valley Forge National Park.

Police are investigating an accident Saturday morning in which a freight train struck and killed two people on the tracks in Upper Merion Township.

Police are investigating an accident Saturday morning in which a freight train struck and killed two people on the tracks in Upper Merion Township.

It happened around 7:30 a.m. near Port Kennedy Station along Station Lane in King of Prussia.

Authorities say the circumstances of the accident are not yet clear.

The train was a 4,500-ton Norfolk-Southern freight train traveling from Morrisville, Bucks County to Chicago with three locomotives and 36 cars.

A spokesman says the two crew members aboard were not harmed.

Company security officers and park police are on the scene.

Officials says they are not sure how fast the train was traveling when it struck the two people.

The names of the victims were not immediately released.
