The accident occurred around 2:00 a.m. just past Adams Avenue in the city's Frankford section.

A driver traveling northbound in a Pontiac Bonneville lost control of a car.

The car ran off the road before striking a tree head on, police say.
Two men and a woman were rushed to Einstein Hospital. One man in the backseat was thrown into the windshield. He is listed in critical condition.

The other victims are stable. So far, there is no word on why the driver lost control of the car.
