Car crashes into underpass column, killing 2

The Department of Public Safety says the eastbound car burst into flames following the 2:15 a.m. Saturday crash. Police spokeswoman Sonya Toler says the driver and passenger in the car haven't yet been identified. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Two people were killed in an accident on 2nd Avenue Saturday morning. Two people were killed in an accident on Second Avenue Saturday morning. According to Pittsburgh Public Safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler, the fire, EMS and police bureaus responded to the accident around 2:15 a.m. Toler said the vehicle lost control as it passed an underpass, hit the bridge support and burst into flames. The Department of Public Works has since reopened the roadway.

Two killed in fiery Oakland crash identified

Two people killed in a fiery crash in Oakland over the weekend have been identified. The Allegheny County medical examiner'€™s office this morning said Gregory Scavincky, 28, of Irwin, and Michael DePalma, 27, of Trafford, were killed in the crash on Second Avenue early Saturday morning. The pair was riding in a Dodge Challenger traveling outbound around 2:15 a.m. when the driver lost control and the car struck a bridge support, bursting into flames, according to Pittsburgh police.
