2 killed in fiery Schuylkill Expressway crash

Two people are dead and a third person has been hospitalized after their car crashed and burst into flames on the Schuylkill Expressway overnight. The accident happened in the westbound lanes near Montgomery Drive at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. When crews arrived at the scene, they encountered a car flipped on its side and engulfed in flames, according to emergency radio reports. The Philadelphia Fire Department said two people died in the crash and a third was hospitalized.

A serious crash early this morning on the Schuylkill Expressway ended in tragedy.  A Kia Sedan slammed into a barrier westbound on I-76 near Montgomery Drive and burst into flames. Two people in the car were killed.

3 killed, 1 injured in single-car crash in Philadelphia

State police say three people were killed after a car crashed and burst into flames on a Philadelphia expressway overnight. Police said the crash happened on the Schuylkill Expressway northwest of the center of the city at about 2:30 a.m. Crews arrived to find the vehicle flipped on its side and engulfed in flames, and they later found three people dead inside. Police said no other vehicles were involved, and it's unclear whether wet conditions were a factor. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Police ID victims in fiery crash

A third passenger, Demetrius Fung, 25, of Philadelphia, remained at Hahnemann University Hospital in serious condition yesterday, police said. Investigators said Stanley was driving a black 2014 Kia Optima west on the expressway about 2:30 a.m. when he lost control near the West River Drive exit, veered onto the right shoulder and hit a concrete barrier. The car rolled onto its side and ignited.
