RIPTA driver remains in hospital after Warwick crash

Avedisian, of North Kingstown, remains in the hospital suffering “serious injuries” Tuesday morning, police said. He is believed to have had a medical emergency behind the wheel, leading him to crash into a telephone pole, veer across four lanes of traffic, and slam into an auto parts store, police said in a news release late Monday night.

Officials now investigating after bus crashed into shop in Rhode Island

A city transit bus crashed into a shop in Warwick on Monday night. Two workers who were inside the shop when the bus crashed. The crash caused damage to the entire building at around 7 p.m. on Route 1. Officials are trying to figure out whether another person walked away uninjured. They are now looking into the possibility that the bus driver had some sort of medical issue that caused him to lose control.
