In a message posted to Twitter on Saturday, Democratic nominee Joe Cunningham said that he was suspending his campaign until further notice.

Katie Arrington and her friend, Jacqueline Goff, were headed south along Highway 17 in Adams Run when their vehicle was struck by White's vehicle driving in the wrong direction in the same lane, Charleston County Sheriff's Capt. Roger Antonio said.

Traffic investigators determined that minutes before the fatal crash, Helen White was involved in a hit-and-run crash a few miles south, Charleston County Sheriff's Capt. Roger Antonio said.
