Coroner: 16-year-old cyclist killed in Hollywood accident, Felony DUI charge for driver

Charleston County officials say a woman has been arrested in connection to a accident that killed a 16-year-old bicyclist in Hollywood late Wednesday night. According to deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, a gray Honda Civic was traveling east on SC Highway 162 when the driver struck Varner on his bicycle. D'Ohndre Varner of Hollywood died at MUSC a 11:47 p.m. from injuries received in the crash shortly before 11 p.m. on Highway 162 and Chapel Road, according to Charleston County Dep. Nastagehia Donniece Brave, 23, has been charged with Felony DUI, authorities say.

Judge sets bond for woman accused of DUI in fatal Hollywood crash

A judge set bond Thursday for a woman charged with felony DUI in an accident that killed a 16-year-old bicyclist in Hollywood. The accident is still under investigation by the Charleston County Sheriff's Office Traffic Division and the Charleston County Coroner's Office. Varner died at MUSC a 11:47 p.m. from injuries received in the crash, according to Charleston County Dep. Bond was set at $150,000 for Nastagehia Donniece Brave, 23, who authorities say struck D'Ohndre Varner of Hollywood shortly before 11 p.m. while the teen was riding his bike along Highway 162. Brave was being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
