Officials: One dead, two injured in Thursday night boat accident

A boat accident in the Charleston Harbor Thursday night killed one person and sent two others to the hospital, according to Coast Guard officials.

The boat ran aground on an island called Shutes Folly not far from the Ravenel Bridge that links Charleston and Mount Pleasant.
Late Thursday night, DNR and Coast Guard officials responded to reports of a boat running aground on Shutes Folly in Charleston Harbor between 11 p.m. and midnight. A man was killed after being ejected from the vessel, while two women were injured. The weomen were treated for injuries at the scene and transported to MUSC for further treatment. The boat had departed Shem Creek during high tide. The accident is under investigation. Check back for updates.
