North Main Street reopened after fatal collision involving motorcyclist and deputy's SUV

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a man on a motorcycle collided with a Berkeley County Sheriff's Office Ford Explorer and a Dodge Neon just before midnight.

Speeds in the ensuing chase reached up to 111 mph at times with the motorcyclist slamming on the breaks and then speeding away several times.

Grand jury declined to indict Berkeley County deputy in fatal crash

A grand jury declined to indict Vansant on any charges. Now, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office will now complete its own internal investigation. Vansant will remain on leave pending its outcome.
